What Is APEX Collegiate Performance Consulting?

APEX is a private academic coaching program designed specifically for Indiana University Pre-Business students pursuing admission to the Kelley School of Business. The program helps freshmen build the structure they need to manage prerequisite courses, study consistently, use campus resources, and stay on track during the transition to college academics.

An incoming Pre-Business admit, I hadn’t focused on building study habits or academic discipline.

I knew my experience and effort in high school wasn’t going to get the result I needed to meet the Kelley Pre-Business requirements. Further I was playing club hockey which meant travel on many weekends.

So I built my own academic program by:

  • Networking with advisors, staff and professors

  • Learning about all  available resources

  • Researching proven study and test taking performance strategies

I used this to create a system that gave me the support I needed to gain admission to Kelley.

  • Although it can be different for every student, most cite A100 and ECON251.

  • Coming from a small high school in Maine, I was a B student. I had focused on athletic training, not academic training. Developing the APEX program, I started by applying principles from my athletic discipline and did research to learn the rest. Simply put, if you put in the effort, you can achieve the result.

  • Absolutely. There are a lot of ways to get support on campus. The key is finding what’s right for you and being consistent with your effort. APEX provides guidance based on student experience.

  • Yes. The first semester can be a tough transition for a lot of students. I got behind in the first month, which was really stressful and easily could have been prevented. But with the right preparation, support, and planning, you can avoid getting behind.
